In the late 90’s I decided to start a frame off restoration. New front fenders along with an SS hood, new bumpers front and rear, rebuilt engine, 700R transmission, new A C system, all new brake system, fuel lines, coil springs and bushings front and rear. The original Parchment interior was replaced along with the original Le Mans exterior color. I plan to add 4 wheel power disk brakes in the future.

Having been in the family for 45 year this Chevelle is a very special car to me and will be passed on to my nephew when I am done with it.

Hal Bruce's 1969 Chevelle Malibu

This 1969 Chevelle Malibu was sold new at Ross Chevrolet in St Petersburg (now Maher) in the summer of 1969. The Chevelle was purchased for the daughter of a coworker of my father, for her junior and senior year in high school, nice first car. When she went away to college she could not take the Chevelle with her the first year so my father bought it in the summer of 1971.

It was equipped with a small block V8, automatic, power steering, rally wheels, bucket seats with console and factory air conditioning. This was my parent’s everyday car until they purchased a new 2 door Pontiac Bonneville in 1979.

In the mid 80’s I bought the Chevelle from my parents with just over 100,000 miles on it as a second car and to tow my boat around. It burned a little oil, the original Le Mans blue paint was faded, there was some minor rust in the front quarter panels, and the lower rear window panel had some rust like they all did. But being a Florida car all its life there was not any other rust.
